Certification Management
I manage your motorcycle PPE
testing and certification.
I plan your testing, prepare the documentation and coordinate with the test house and certification body through to a decision.
For your first motorcycle PPE product, or a new product your team needs to take through certification.
£995
per PPE product or family
All prices exclude VAT. Test house and certification-body fees are separate, passed on at cost without markup.
Before any testing is booked
You do not need to arrive with a test plan or a finished technical file. We start with what you are making, where you want to sell it and the protection you want to claim.
I work out what the project needs to cover, including the product variants and testing needed. We agree the scope and plan before booking tests. You approve third-party costs in writing before I commit to them.
I’ve run tests, led a test team and assessed and certified products. I manage testing and certification together because finishing the tests can still leave a project waiting on documentation or unanswered comments.
The work I take on
Preparing your documentation
I write the documentation for your product and adapt it to the body assessing it. I check that the product details and references agree across the set, and tell you what information is missing.
Managing testing
I prepare the sample submission, coordinate with your factory and book the agreed testing. I follow up on progress and go through the results with you, including what they mean for your product.
Handling the certification assessment
I submit the documentation and respond to the certification body’s comments. If I need information or a product decision from you, I explain what is needed. The certification body makes the decision.
If a test fails,
my fee stays the same
I cannot prevent every failure. If one happens, I help you understand the result, consider what needs changing and coordinate the further work.
Handling changes and retesting within the agreed project is included in my £995 fee. I am not paid more for retests.
The test house charges separately for any further testing. You approve those costs before it is booked.
What you receive
A written update every week
You know where the project stands, what has been completed and what is waiting on an answer. I tell you which decisions need your input and what happens next, including weeks when we are waiting on someone else.
A handover you can work from
Once certification is issued, I hand over:
- Your certificate
- Issued by the certification body for the product and scope it has assessed.
- Your organised documentation
- The set I prepared, with clear names and an index so you can find what you need.
- Your Declaration of Conformity
- Prepared for the manufacturer to sign.
- Your marketing guidelines
- Wording drawn from the certificate, so you can describe the product’s certified protection accurately.
The documentation I prepare is yours to keep, edit and reuse. Certification Management ends at handover.
Questions before you start
Do I need to know which standard applies?
No. Working out what your product needs is part of the project. Tell me what you are making and where you want to sell it.
Will you deal with my factory?
Yes. I communicate directly with your factory under a mutual NDA, so you do not have to pass every question between us.
Are you tied to one test house or certification body?
No. I select the providers that fit the project.
How long does certification take?
It depends on the product, the testing needed and the response times of the people involved. I keep you informed and make clear what needs a decision from you.
Can you guarantee certification?
No. The certification body makes the decision. My service covers preparing and managing the work through to that decision.
What if I have several products?
The £995 fee covers one PPE product or family. We agree which variants are included before starting. Larger projects can have an agreed project price.
What happens after handover?
Further questions or work go through Technical Help, at £150 per hour. Changes to a certified product are agreed as new work.
